Ooc Information

Why Dark Metal Classic?

DMC was formed by a group of long-term Dark Metal players who liked the setting and grid but wanted to do things a little differently. The difference is mostly in style. We aren't interested in antagonizing any of the other games. We encourage players to play where they feel most comfortable.

Rules and Policy

Rules

All roleplay is according to the stock Storyteller rules from White Wolf, unless explicitly noted in news or coded to work otherwise.

This means the main books for each of the games:

  • Vampire: The Masquerade
  • Werewolf: The Apocalypse
  • Mage: The Ascension
  • Trinity (in development)

People do not like what they don't understand, especially if it eats them.

For this reason, Vampires still tend to conceal their true nature and the Delirium is in full force. This is a matter of mortal nature, folks.

Everything goes as long as its:

  • Not against house rules
  • Not against stock rules
  • You're doing it for strictly IC reasons

All rules apply to all parties. If an exception is granted to one party for reasons x, y, or z, then it's available to all parties for the same reasons.

Implied Consent

By being logged in and playing here, there are certain realities of the
world that you consent to, such as:

  • You consent to the existence of the other super-races, the rules of the game-system.
  • You consent to the existence of police, in whatever form they currently take.
  • You consent to the various realities of the world - the Masquerade and the consequences for breaking it, and so on.
  • You consent that remaining on this game and playing here is not your right. Should you break rules you will be permanently removed.
  • You are at least 18 years of age IRL.

Characters

If it's available in chargen you can play it. Otherwise you can't. See the sphere hub or the +info
for what is currently available.

We ask that you have access to/know the rules for any 'supernatural' PC you attempt to play as we do not make any major attempt to provide such.

Characters MUST be 18+. No exceptions.

Staff

For a current list of staff, see: +staff/all.
For a list of connected staff, see: +staff.

Staff have a commitment to on-line and on-duty times where they can be available to assist players.

If a staff member is off-duty or DARK, please use +mail.

  • Staff is here to maintain grid, theme and setting.
  • Staff may tell stories but are not obligated to do so.
  • Staff will only get involved in player disputes if they absolutely have to.

Players are expected to run their own scenes, tell their own stories and
adjudicate their own conflicts. Please let us know if we can help in anyway.

Harassment

Under no circumstances whatsoever is any player or admin to harass or coerce any other player on this MUSH with regards to OOC or RL threats, divulging of information (real name, location, phone number, etc).

Any player or admin doing so will be summarily banned from the game. Further action may be taken against them and their site.

Setting and Getting Started

Where is this MUSH set?

The Los Angeles/Tijuana Metropolitan Area (LATMA) in Southern California. Included in this area is the San Onofre Radiation Zone and the outer laying mountain and dessert areas.

When is this MUSH set?

Dark Metal began on the IC year of 2020. The apocalypse Beginning in the year 2020. The 'apocalypse' took place starting in 2000, with a partial trigger being Baba Yaga eating the Russian Premier on national television.

What is the theme?

Based on the White Wolf Game Studios series of Storyteller System games, (Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, and Mage: the Ascension), Dark Metal encompasses the main character concepts from Vampire, Mage, and Werewolf. It also uses psions from the White Wolf's Trinity. It's essentially a more themely Mortal +. We also include elements from Cyberpunk 2020 and just a touch of Shadowrun.

Due to the 'apocalypse' it is somewhat common occult knowledge that supernaturals exist - but concrete information is not wide spread except for those PC's who have Lore's. In addition, the supernaturals on Dark Metal do not view the Fall as, on the whole, a good thing. Therefore, the general consensus within supernatural groups is that they want to repair the damage done, and are doing so in every way possible.

What other things should I know?

DM is, by and large, a player run game. Meaning, the staff on DM are here to help if you need it, provide guidelines and watch for game-wide consistency, deal with complaints, and aid with the formation (at times) of sphere or game-wide TP's. We are NOT here to hold your hand, help you hammer out an in-depth concept from scratch while explaining every rule WoD ever printed, or otherwise resemble anything close to 'mom'.

In essence, we help run a game everyone can enjoy. We don't play the game for everyone.

All Player Characters will be generated in Character Generation, using starting character points (but see: news wizard characters). Experience points will be awarded by player votes and spent according to the stock rules in the books.

How about laws?

There really isn't a government, so laws in and of themselves are a tricky area. There are security corporations that enforce a breed of laws (such as MetSec), but corporations are really the 'legal' backbone of California.

So what happens if I do something illegal and get caught?

It depends on who catches you. If its a corporation with their own security force and internal holding tanks, you may never be heard from again, or you may be let out the very next day. If MetSec finds you, and you are a Dark or a supernatural, you may as well say goodbye. Otherwise, it depends on who you are, what you did, who catches you, and how you behave.

How about guns?

Guns must be obtained ICly from a gun dealer. @create'ing an item and naming it does NOT a gun make.

While weapons staff are willing to give you a little help at finding dealers, we won't point you to the person and hold your hand through the process. Guns are dangerous. People know this. Procuring a gun may mean putting your character in danger, not only with the Darks, but with
MetSec.

You will not receive a response to any mails or pages that say, "Where can I find guns!" Instead, mail staff with what your stats are, how you'd like to go about it, and see if they are willing to nudge you in the right direction.

Please also note that they are ILLEGAL in Bright areas.
